Slowly, slowly

– “Maida” usually means “small” but the repetition “maida maida” can mean “slowly”

 

• ریزه ریزه

reza reza

Bit by bit

reza = Tehrani “rize”

 

• غصه غصه پرشده

ghusa ghusa pur shuda

(Life) has become full of sorrow.

– pur shuda = Tehrani “por shode” (Note the vowel differences)

 

• زندگی مشکل شده

Zindagi mushkil shuda

Life has become difficult.

– Tehrani: Zendegi moshkel shode. (Note the vowel differences)

 

• میده میده ریزه ریزه غصه غصه پرشده زندگی مشکل شده

Maida, maida, reza, reza, ghusa, ghusa pur shuda, zindagi mushkil shuda.

Slowly, slowly, bit by bit, life has become full of sorrow, life has become difficult.

 

• یاران این زمانه چقدر سنگدل شده

Yaaraane in zamaana cheqadar sang-dil shuda!

Oh friends of this era, how cold-hearted (lit.: stone-hearted) has he/it become!

– cheqadar = Tehrani: “cheghad”, note: q is proununced like Arabic q (not gh) in most dialects of Dari and in Tajik

– Not sure who has become cold-hearted: He (her partner), it (the era), the friends (but then the agreement should be shudan)…

 

• پیش دربار خدا جان بندگى مشکل شده

Peshe darbaare khudā jān bandagi mushkil shuda.

 Servitude for our dear god has become difficult.

• عاشقم بیمار عشقم باکی گویم راز دل باکی گویم راز دل

āsheqam, bemāre ishqam, bā ki guyam rāze dil?

I’m in love, I’m love-sick, whom can I tell my heart’s secret, whom can I tell my heart’s secret? 

– bemāre ishqam = Tehrani: bimāre eshgham;

Note the vowel change of Tehrani “i” becoming Tajik “e” and Tehrani “e”  Tajik i” or “a” at the end of a word (shode – shuda)

 

• زیر باران محبت همگی دلگیر شده زندگی مشکل شده

Zire barāne mohabbat hamagi delgir shuda, zindagi mushkil shuda.

Under the rain of love everything has become confined and gloomy, life has become difficult.

 

Refrain (2x)

 

• اين دنياى بي وفا بر ما وفاداري نكرد

In dunyāye be-wafā bar mā wafā-dāri nakard.

This faithless world hasn’t shown me any loyalty.

 

•   اي عزيزم يار مرا بين چه قدر سنگدل شده؟

Ay azizam, yaare maraa bin cheqa sang-dil shuda?

Oh my sweetheart, look at my lover, how cold-hearted has he become?

– maraa = Tehrani “mano”

– bin = Tehrani “bebin” 

Note: In Tajik the command form doesn’t exhibit the “be-” prefix found in Iranian or Afghan Persian

– cheqa = che qadar (how (much))

Zindagi mushkil shuda

Life has become difficult.
